Iestyn came to us in February 2017 experiencing anger issues at school and at home, struggling to deal with grief – as any young man would – after the tragic loss of his father.
Iestyn has progressed greatly over our time working with him, and within just three months he had received his Junior Boxing Leaders award following his 10 hours of work on the programme.
As our mentors partnered Iestyn with other young people, he gradually seemed more confident and communicative to his teachers and his mother, which lead to Iestyn feeling proud about his achievements at school and in the gym. Iestyn soon reached the point where he felt comfortable taking part in photo shoots and being filmed on camera! Now, he is a promising rugby player and talks with the self-assurance of someone who is “the best on his team”.
